8 of the Best Selfie Spots in the USA

Everyone on social media seems to be searching for the most unique, breathtaking backdrop for their selfies (especially in the fall). Sometimes it’s a mural or exceptional architecture, other times it’s just your own backyard.

If you’re looking to up your selfie game, heading to a national or state park is where it’s at. Be sure to bring a selfie stick along, because these autumn backdrops deserve every widescreen opportunity available.

Some parks are even setting up “selfie stations,” where you can set your phone to snap the perfect picture. It takes away the question of, “is this the best place or angle?” And we all know how awkward it can be to ask a stranger to take a photo for you. Sometimes you just want the selfie shot, anyway.

Here are our top picks for the most selfie-friendly, picturesque national and state parks (many with bright fall colors to really make it pop):

Yellowstone National Park

The thermal features that abound in Yellowstone will make people think you used some crazy filter or photo-editing app. But the truth is, these colors are all natural and truly remarkable.

Grand Teton National Park

Oxbow Bend, with its still, reflective water is one selfie spot you don’t want to miss. If you really want the mountain range in the background, head to Snake River Overlook.

Arches National Park

The iconic Balanced Rock is likely what you picture when you think of Arches National Park in Utah. Located right next to the park’s main road, this photo is a must for anyone visiting.

Grand Canyon National Park

It’s no surprise that Grand Canyon made our list. No matter what time of the year you visit (or really even where), you’ll find amazing backdrops for your new profile picture. We’d recommend Mather Point or Ooh Aah Point.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Really, anywhere in Hawaii is likely a great selfie spot. But near molten lava, overlooking Hawaii’s Big Island? Unforgettable.

Yosemite National Park

Half Dome, Yosemite’s awe-inspiring rock formation, is easily one of the best selfie backdrops in the park. Head to Glacier Point or Yosemite Valley between the Village Store and the Ahwahnee Hotel for your best photo opp.

Niagara Falls State Park

Terrapin Point, Prospect Point and the Observation Tower are all amazing options to get the rushing waters of Niagara Falls behind you. Observation Point would capture the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls.

Olympic National Park

Sol Duc Falls is one of the most photographed spots at Olympic National Park – and for a good reason. You’d never think that Washington state would have such lush forests and beautiful waterfalls.

Remember to watch your step as you take your selfies. Be aware of your surroundings and make sure you’re not too close to the edge of any trail.
